nagasThe Nagas are a tribe from the North-Eastern part of India. They are a peace-loving people. The inhabitant states of the Nagas are Assam, Manipur, Nagaland and parts of Arunachal Pradesh. The Nagas, these days are spread all over the states of India, mainly for the educational purposes. Pune is also one of the city in which the Nagas have set their roots, set up in the year 1981, the NSUP is a student organization which brings different communities of Nagas under one umbrella.

The Nagas are a combination of different sub-tribes, each tribe have different festivals, culture and languages. However, the Naga community as a whole participates in the celebration of ceremonial functions showing their own identity. Some of the major festivals of the Nagas are Hornbill Festival, Moatsu, Nazu, Sekrenyi, Tuluni, Yemshe, Sankarni, Chakhesang Khilunyie, Rengma Ngadah, Tokhu Emong and Gan Ngai.

The Nagas speak different dialects, each sub-tribes has a different language. Therefore, Nagameese becomes the medium of communication among the Nagas and the official language is English.
